The Peak District National Park has so many activities and places you need to explore. With cycling, hiking and many more activities, the experience is unrivalled. We have some of the best landscapes, routes and suppliers all on your doorstep. You can treat it as one big adventure!
So, if you are looking for a new place to visit with the family or want to enhance a repeat visit, here’s what’s great about spending some time in the Peaks!
Think of it now. You’re on the drive to one of our homes. The sun is shining, the kids are excited, and the music is blaring. Suddenly the road tilts up and you start to climb the hills on your journey… you then reach the top and the road evens out. The views and scenery of the Peak District are just beautiful. People often run out of adjectives to describe the surrounding area when they get here.
One of our favourite viewpoints has to be Mam Tor. Take the impressive Winnats Pass and enjoy watching paragliders spiral over the hills as you walk up to the top. There’s a National Trust car park here as well as plenty of on-road parking.
We then have the wonderful Monsal Trail. This disused railway offers a perfect traffic-free (and mostly mud-free) route for cycling, walking or riding. The trail runs along the former Midland Railway line for 8.5 miles between Blackwell Mill in Chee Dale and Coombs Road at Bakewell. The newly reopened tunnels offer some extra excitement. Following work by the Peak District National Park Authority – using £2.25 million funding from the Department of Transport – the tunnels have been repaired, resurfaced and lit to form an extension to the existing Monsal Trail. You can hire bikes from Hassop Station, which is also a fab place for tea and cake.
Not only are these activities a great way to spend quality time with your loved ones, but the endorphins released from getting outside and exercising can really help with mental health. According to experts, getting out and moving for just half an hour can have real benefits – and that’s what we want your trip to be all about. When leaving your Beyond Venues stay, we want you to take away loads of great memories and a rested mind to return to the bustle of daily life.
Our homes have some great features to keep you stress-free while enjoying the outdoors. We have washing machines and tumble dryers to keep your clothes fresh, baths for soaking sore muscles, and well-equipped kitchens to keep you well fuelled. Be sure to ask us about storing your bikes or outdoor equipment.
Whether you’re heading out into the Peaks for fun, to clear your mind, or just to get some fresh air, the way you’ll feel as you take in the British countryside is truly magical. That’s what Beyond Venues is all about – helping you get outside and experience the stunning scenery of the Peak District, while ensuring you have the perfect haven to return to and rest your weary feet.
Come see how you go above and beyond with Beyond Venues!
